The April Glowing Beets Box arrived last week and of course I dove right in! This month we are seeing the Marin Bee Detox Masque and Lip Repair. Root + Willow’s Lava Scrub in Fig & Plum and a The Future is Bright Enamel Pin Greeting Card by Fred and Far. A total value of $104 for just 29.95 + shipping.
This is my first time trying anything from the Marin Bee line. I am always psyched to see a mask show up at my door PLUS I love a good lip treatment so bring it Marin Bee!
Marin Bee actually has a little bit of a different story. We often hear that lines come to fruition due to a frustration or realization that nothing out there suits the needs of a soon to be formulator and therefore a skincare line is created. BUT Marin Bee came to bee out of a love for bees. Co-founders Deb and Bill Tomaszewski wanted to spread the word about the worldwide die-off of the honey bee so they started a nonprofit called Planet Bee Foundation with the mission of getting out and teaching people how to bring bees back into our gardens and yards.
Having bees themselves, Deb started using honey from their own hives to treat their teenagers skin problems and guess what, it worked! Her homemade formulas also left her own skin glowing. She worked for four years on these recipes with chemists to bring us the line as we see it today.
Detox Masque: This is a honey and clay based mask. Honey makes a great base for a mask because it has a unique combination of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and probiotics to help regenerate skin. Marin Bee sources their wildflower honey from Northern California. I was so excited to try this mask. The directions say to “apply a thin layer” over the entire face and I had to work to get it to apply thin because it is pretty thick and being honey based it was sticky too but I did it! The mask has a light floral scent and is easy to wear – there is no pulling or drying or tingling. This is a quick 10 minute mask and after using it my skin feels refreshed and hydrated. Love that this can also be used as a spot treatment. Here are the ingredients:
- sodium chloride
- zinc oxide
- organic camellia sinensis leaf extract
- lactobacillus/pumpkin ferment extract
- organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder
- oat kernel flour
- lavender oil
- gaur gum
- caprylhydroxamic acid
- caprylyl glycol
Lip Repair: Love a good lip treatment and this one was no exception. It is really shiny and goes on super thin – like a little goes a long way. There is no stand out taste or scent to it because it’s free of essential oils and fragrances. It’s also clear (no color tint) even though there is mica and iron oxides added to it. Really pretty and natural looking – I actually have it on in the mask pic above. Here are the ingredients:
- castor seed oil
- organic olive fruit oil
- hydrogenated castor oil
- calendula officinalis flower extract
- punica granati sterols
- organic Shea butter
- cocoa seed butter
- safflower seed oil
- carnauba was
- candelilla wax
- iron oxides
The Future Is Bright Enamel Pin Greeting Card by Fred and Far
This line was designed to encourage woman to choose, love and honor themselves daily. Love the idea of sending this to my sister or one of my besties – ‘magine getting this card in the mail!? Too cute! But for now I’ll just be rocking it out over here on cropped denim. See it on my collar?
This is the second time we are seeing an appearance from Fred and Far #allthepins #selflove #keepitcoming
Root & Willow Lava Scrub in Fig & Plum
This scrub smells so good – like candy! Great for the entire body, this scrub exfoliates and hydrates leaving skin feeling so soft. Love this especially for feet, knees, bums and elbows. This scrub is oil based so I would recommend doing your feet last though so you don’t slip in the shower. It’s also fair trade, handcrafted, small batch and mostly organic. Check out the ingredients:
- organic sucrose (Turbinado Sugar)
- organic coconut oil
- organic and sustainable palm oil
- sunflower oil
- corn starch
- essential oils
- organic fragrance
I asked Root & Willow what they were using for “fragrance” and they said organic essential oil. Well whatever blend they are using it smells like candy! A dose of sweet aromatherapy for sure!
