Glowing Beets December Box Reveal

December 22, 2016

Hope you guys had a great December! Mine was sweetened up with this month’s Glowing Beets box! This month we are seeing some Fitglow Beauty skin prep, a Me and the Girls lipstick base and topper, a teeth-whitening pen by Dr. Brite and some Sakari Botanicals Rosehip Peppermint Tea.  Some great holiday picks so lets dive in!

Super C Cream by Fitglow

Fitglow Beauty Super C Cream

Let’s talk about my favorite item this month. I mean anything Fitlgow and you have me doing a double-take. They make my fave red lipstick in LOVE – a must have! Plus this box includes an exclusive 20% off code to Fitglow’s online shop. Merry Christmas ya’ll! Anyways, members will receive one of two items. Either the Super C Cream (shown above) or the Redness Rescue Cream. I got the Super C Cream which I was excited to see is 85% organic, nut free and vegan. Packed with antioxidants, Vitamins C, B and organic green tea, it is ideal as a skin prep after moisturizing and before makeup. It is unscented, opaque, light and creamy in consistency. It goes on smooth, adds a dose of moisture and creates an even and healthy tone to your skin before adding makeup. I am loving this product, especially as temps drop + heat gets turned up = dry skin city! Like say goodbye to those flakes around your nose or in between your brows. Glowing Beets’ got you covered.

Me and the Girls Mentha Revive Lip Moisturizer Lipstick Base and Topper

Me and the Girls Lipstick Base, $7

A lipstick BASE?! I didn’t even know something like this existed! I’ve always used a lip balm as a base but now I see, all these years, I’ve been compromising! This stick provides moisture without the slick finish of a balm. Perfect for layering under lipstick. WHY? As winter settles in and lips start to crack and flake – don’t even think about applying lipstick on top of that hot mess. Ew. First exfoliate lips. (I LOVE the ILIA Balmy Nights exfoliator – it has tiny granules of volcanic stone power in it and leaves lips feeling like SILK). Anyways after exfoliating, go in with this Me and the Girls Lipstick Base and top with your fave color. This base fills in cracks and inconsistencies creating a perfect base for lipstick. It’s more of a viscous, waxy consistency so if I want a nude, no color look or an overnight treatment, I would go with a true balm where this is more of a lip prep and perfect before color.

Ingredients: organic sunflower oil, wildcrafted candelilla wax, organic cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, organic essential oil of spearmint, organic cupuacu seed butter, mixed tocopherol (non GMO), organic rosemary extract and organic calendula extract.

Sakari Botanicals Rosehip Peppermint Tea

Sakari Botanicals Rosehip Peppermint Tea

Sakari Botanicals is a Native American, woman owned, business located in Bend, Oregon. All of their plants are produced with organic or native seed and hand collected/foraged/wildcrafted at their on-site nursery. They specialize in producing custom medicinal native products, wholesale plants and offer native plant consulting services.  They offer a variety of products including massage/body oils, salves, bath salts, teas and more. They actually sell their own dried Elderberries too (12.00 for 2oz) which I was so excited to find! They are sold out now but I can hear a fresh batch of fresh Elderberry Syrup calling my name!

So we get to try their Rosehip Peppermint Tea. It’s lovely. Mild, complex and relaxing. Love the peppermint steam it makes, so cooling and relaxing as it travels up my nostrils (Is that too much? For real though!)  It comes lose so you will need either some tea bags or a sieve to strain the loose tea though. I would guess this makes about 3 cups of tea. And as with all teas make sure to respect the recommended steeping time. Brewing longer will NOT get you a stronger/more flavorful cup – it will only aid in turning your tea bitter. If you want stronger cup, double up on the amount of tea you use.

Dr. Brite Peroxide-Free Teeth Whitening Pen

Glowing Beets December Box

This product claims to whiten teeth up to 4 shades in as little as 7 days. WOW! Their website says Vitamin C helps support gum repair while organic coconut oil rids teeth of bacteria found in plaque. Plus it may brighten dental restorations such as fillings and implants. It’s also vegan friendly and BPA-free. And $1 is donated to the Breast Cancer Fund.

They have two flavors, mint or green apple and we get to try the peroxide-free mint pen. This is a way safer option than using any sort of whitening strips which employ synthetics and include ingredients like: PEGs and Sodium Hydroxide.

Here is the Dr. Brite full list of ingredients:

  • Purified water
  • Organic Glycerin
  • Cellulose Gum
  • Organic Xylitol
  • Coco Glucoside
  • Sodium Bicarbonate
  • Ascorbic Acid
  • Organic Coconut Oil
  • Organic Green Apple Extract
  • Menthol
