April Quarterly Faves

April 17, 2020

Welcome to the crossroads of where “what’s currently trending in clean beauty” and “what I personally am crushing on HARD” collide. AKA? This Organic Girl’s Quarterly Faves.

Going forward, I will be publishing my quarterly faves at the end of March, June and September along with my big “Best of” post at the end of the year. I thought “Quarterly Faves” would be a nice way to highlight some exceptional products along the way.

But not only that, I will do my best to include special offers too! Be sure to come back each quarter for a refresh on what’s hot + TOG exclusives.

Clean Beauty Trends

Right now gua sha, probiotic skincare, hyaluronic acid, retinol, “plant-based” retinol and responsible packaging are trending. It’s impossible to try it all but I come pretty close – LOL. My hope is this feature helps you narrow down your choices and ultimately find some new ride or dies. Let’s get started…

If you want more, check out my video breakdown of each of these products here on my Instagram!

The Breakdown

1. Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil, 1 oz | $72

Obsessed is an understatement. Le Prunier is a ONE INGREDIENT, 100% organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, USA made moisturizer featuring plum seed oil. One whiff of this face oil and you will be entranced. Not only does it smell divine, it’s honesty the perfect viscosity where moisturizing meet assimilation. I’ve been using it for weeks now and my skin is supple, hydrated and radiant. Le Prunier boasts, “Plum oil is 8X more powerful than Argan oil and 6X more powerful than Marula oil in protecting the skin from damaging free radicals.” I fell hard for Le Prunier and this love affair is not waining!

2. Cleo + Coco Deodorant, 2.5 oz | $18

I’ve never classified a deodorant as sexy but Cleo + Coco toes that line. I was first taken by their branding and packaging – their colors are gorge and this fatty applicator is everything. But then I started using it and I was convinced. This dark gray formula transfers easily but not excessively. It calls on charcoal to cleanse and purify the skin while absorbing odor AS WELL AS magnesium-rich bentonite clay to remove impurities. I’ve tried Grapefruit Bergamot (which works all day for me) but they also have Blue Tansy, Basil Mint and Lavender Vanilla which I am dying to try too. Check out more deodorants I am loving here!

3. OLIO E OSSO Creama Lipstick in Begonia, .116 oz | $30

Looking for the perfect hot-orangy-undertoned-red? Look no further than OLIO E OSSO’s Creama Lipstick in Begonia. Ultra moisturizing, this acts more like a buildable stain than a lipstick. Wear just a wash of color for that flushed bitten-lip look or build it up for more of a uniform look. Either way, formula made with oils, butters, and waxes is a head-turner. I love the shade Begonia but I also love Ibisco. See all 4 shades applied here.

4. Maya Chia’s The Straight A, 1 oz, | $125

Thoroughly convinced The Straight A is the one product every woman needs in her skincare routine. This uber-clean formula uses a maximum dose of skin-strengthening, brightening and fine-line-reducing retinol alongside vitamin A-rich sidekicks Bakuchiol and Moth Bean Extract. I saw a difference in my skin within days. Read all about my experience and check out some before and after pics with this look at retinol in organic skincare. A MUST-HAVE! And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Check out what readers are saying on Instagram:

5. Free + True’s Body Prophet, 6.8 oz | $48

I discovered Body Prophet via Beauty Heroes two months ago and it was love at first swipe. The best way to describe this body lotion is a cross between a serum, gel and a cream. What’s most perplexing is the fact that it’s SUPER LIGHT in its consistency and weight but it’s a champ at retaining moisture. It also soaks right in and it’s the first time I’ve said with 100% confidence that I could put this moisturizer on and then get straight into my sheets with 100% confidence. (THAT’S SAYING EVERYTHING and I haven’t even gotten to the good stuff yet!) It’s also loaded with free radical fighting botanicals, great every day but especially after the sun and for dry and dehydrated skin.

6. OUI the People Rose Gold Single Blade Razor, $75

I love everything about this OUI the People Rose Gold Single Blade Razor. It sits heavy in the hand, it’s insanely pretty, I feel like an A-lister when I’m shaving but best of all; blade replacements are practically pennies! Seriously, you can get 100 blades for less than $7. But this is not just another low-waste razor, it’s designed to remove hair without tugging and pulling which equals less ingrown and irritation. I’ve been using it for over a year now and I can concur! I can also concur that I have to take it from my husband’s sink every time I need it – ha ha!

7. Mukti’s 2-in-1 Resurfacing Exfoliant, 100 ml | $33

Oh lordy did my life change the day I opened up this bad boy. This 2-in-1 exfoliator doubles as a cleanser and works in a couple of ways. First, it calls on fruit acids to dissolve intercellular bonds encouraging collagen production while jojoba esters and finely ground bamboo particles gently eliminate dead skin cells. This is a fancy way of saying; this gem will leave your skin feeling cleansed and smooth as a baby’s behind. Legit. No joke. Pours out a beautiful thick green, smells spa-rich like lime and cucumber and foams up with a little water and friction. (Makes your foundation look incredible). Beauty Heroes has a special 1/2 size which is a steal as well as this “choose your own price” limited edition which is also epic – read more of my thoughts here!

8. Clove + Hallow Vegan Makeup Brushes | $21+

Makeup-artist worthy but beginner-friendly, these three brushes hit all the marks. Consider this your entire brush kit (like every brush you need for a full makeup look) in JUST THREE BRUSHES. The Perfecting Buffer is great for foundations, bronzers, and blushes. The Precision Buffer is great for blending concealer, all-over lid primers or shades and under the eyes. And the Eyeshadow Brush is double-sided to deposit color with one side and blend with the other. These brushes are made in a sustainability-focused factory and the vegan, synthetic bristles are attached to a handle crafted from Forest Stewardship Council-approved wood. I also love their Lip Velvets BTW.

9. Beuti Pomegranate Glow Enzyme Cleanser, 2.5 oz | $80

Kinda obsessed with the Beuti Pomegranate Glow Enzyme Cleanser. Is it a cleanser? Is it a mask? Or is it an exfoliator? Yes, yes and YES! This is a gel/balm hybrid that melts grime, dirt, makeup and sunscreen. But not only that, it’s formulated pomegranate enzymes to exfoliate. Use this as your everyday cleanser or leave it on for 5-10 minutes and it acts like an exfoliating, detoxifying and soothing mask. A no-brainer really.

10. Fitglow’s Vita Shield SPF 30 Lotion, 50 ml, $34

NBD, just the best face SPF on the market. And it’s not just me, check out the messages I got back this week about Fitglow’s Vita Shield SPF 30 Lotion:

And this….

I’m telling you, if you are still looking for your holy grail face SPF, this is it. Light, easy to layer – both over your moisturizer and under your makeup – yet moisturizing enough to be used alone for some. Fragrance free, gluten free, vegan and CLEAN. I mean, what more can a girl ask for?!
