Art Of Organics X LUXE Botanics Review

March 6, 2018

So on the 5th of every month we see a new drop by Art of Organics. Sorry I’m a day late – yesterday I was busy having lunch with Dr. Mark Hyman (sniff sniff) – no big deal. Ha! His 14th book just came out called FOOD. What the heck should I eat? So he took some time to come to Atlanta and sign some copies for the ladies! Anyways, I digress. Without further ado ladies and gents, the Art Of Organics March box featuring LUXE Botanicals.

Okay so this month is all about cleansing. More specifically, the double cleanse. Because two cleanses is better than one right? Well, to be frank, yes. Here’s what’s included:

  • LUXE Botanics Marula Hydrating Pre-Cleanser $55
  • LUXE Botanics CAMU Brightening Cleanser $45

A $100 value for $39! Art of Organics has a two month minimum so if you sign up now you pay $78 and get March + April. And then you can cancel at-will after that.

More on Art Of Organics

Art of Organics was created to connect people with the cleanest, most effective and luxe beauty products in existence. You can check out a list of ingredients that AO will never send out here. But what really gets me about AO is that they focus on the art aspect of skincare + beauty. They do this not only through the products they choose to share with members but also with their packaging which features a new design by a different artist every month.

Boxes are sent out between the 1st-5th of the month and are usually curated with themes. So we will see selections centering around hair care, winter skin care, skin brightening, detox, etc. The one thing you wont see a lot of here is makeup. Also I love that members get 15% off all products at the Art of Organics online shop. It’s all about the perks ya’ll!

A bit about LUXE Botanics

LUXE is the passion project of South African biotechnologist, Jené Roestorf. She was raised in South Africa surrounded by some of the earth’s most distinct and diverse ecosystems. Her skincare line embraces her African roots, scientific proficiency and passion for innovation.

People are becoming increasingly educated about ingredients in their skincare. They are concerned with their origins, questioning the impact on health and the environment. We wanted to conceive an honest, mindful skincare ritual that women would love. Where there doesn’t have to be a choice between efficacy, a socially conscious ethos and protecting our natural resources. – LUXE founder/formulator, Jené Roestorf

Double Cleansing + Oils

Okay so two things.

  1. Oils
  2. Double Cleansing

If both of these sound wild and crazy to you….let me explain. Ideally you want to cleanse your face with oils. The basic concept is that like dissolves like so by massaging your face with oils, any oil that has been hardened with impurities and stuck to your pores, will be loosed and removed. You can read more here about oil cleansing.

But to personally testify…When I finally got up the courage to switch to oils from my favorite foaming cleanser I have to be honest, it wasn’t that weird. And the best part? After just three weeks my skin went from oily/combo to completely BALANCED! I mean it totally rocked my world. These days I still keep a foaming cleanser in my shower but I use oils on the daily.

Okay, now on to double cleaning. All this means is: cleansing your face twice. The first pass is to remove makeup, excess oil and other pore-clogging particles. Then, once all the grime is gone, now we have access to the skin and can truly go in and cleanse. I typically double cleanse at night when I have makeup on and single cleanse in the morning.

The Goodies

LUXE Botanics Cleansing OIls MARULA HYDRATING PRE CLEANSER – A silky oil that smells of lemon and florals (it’s the top oil shown above). This oils goes on soft and smooth and works to remove makeup, dirt, pollution and other impurities.

The star of the show here is Marula Kernel Oil. LUXE’s Marula is extracted from the nut of the Marula tree which his wild-harvested and processed by the local Maasai women in Kenya.

Marula is known for its hydrating and nourishing properties.

You can use this alone or follow up with a second cleanse.

CAMU BRIGHTENING CLEANSER – This pumps out white in color – it’s more of a light cream but it’s saturated with nourishing and cleansing oils (the bottom oil shown above). This is an effective deep cleanser targeting leftover impurities while refreshing the skin.

The stars of the show here are Camu Camu and Japanese Green Tea. LUXE’s Camu Camu is sourced from deep within the Amazon basin. It’s extracted from the berry of the Camu Camu tree which is organically grown and hand-picked by the local community in Brazil.

Camu Camu is known to brighten while Japaneese Green Tea refines.
