Must-Read Books for 2019

MUST-READ books for 2019.

Happy 2019 friends! Maybe you are like me and when you have a second to read, you want to make it WORTH IT! I am always trying to get it in whether it be a podcast on the treadmill, a book in the car or settling down at night in between my sheets. One of my biggest fears is there will be an amazing book that I will never get to experience just because, let’s face it, you can’t read ’em all…

That being said, I talked to some of my favorite influencers, leaders and women in the wellness space to bring you their recs for a must-read in 2019. Queue up your Audible list, renew your library card and bust out that book store gift card you got for the holidays cuz here’s what they had to say…

P.S. The best book I read in 2018 was A Gentleman in Moscow. Some of the best writing and prose I’ve ever feasted my eyes on. I found myself rereading paragraphs because each one was it’s own work of art.

Chelsea Williams

Chelsea is a nationally recognized plant-based lifestyle media contributor, public health specialist, and blogger, based in Washington, DC. She talks about all things wellness at That’s Chelsea.

Chelsea recommends Heart Talk by Cleo Wade and Healing Tonics by Adriana Ayales.

Kristin has a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Masters of Science in Nursing is a registered nurse and functional medicine guru. She is also the founder of STAT Wellness in Atlanta, GA.

Kristin’s 2019 must reads are:

A cosmetologist, green smoothie lover and clean living expert. You can catch Suzi over at Gurl Gone Green or The Golden Hour Podcast.

Suzi says The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy is a game changer!

Gianne Doherty

Nicolle Mackinnon
Nicolle Mackinnon

Nicolle is a content manager and creator for natural beauty and + wellness as well as the Editor in Chief for W.E.L.L. Summit and W.E.L.L. Insiders.

Nicolle says, “The Wellness Project by Phoebe Lapine is beautifully and hilariously written weaving scientific data in with memoir. It showcases a really manageable, smart way to zero in on what may be causing health issues. Phoebe is insightful and uses experts wisely, giving readers easy takeaways for their own wellness journeys. It changed how I think about my own chronic illness and gave me a few tricks and recipes I still use daily.”

Dr. Sarah is a former ER doc turned artisan soap maker with a passion to educate. She is also the founder of OSMIA.

I asked Dr. Sarah what she would recommend reading in 2019 and she said without hesitation, “Fave novel ever is Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey.” (Sold!)

Molly is an advocate for nontoxic beauty, children’s products and clean living in general. She is also the writer behind Maison Pur.

She says her fave novel of the year was The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. And a great mom read is Bringing Up Bébé by Pamela Drukerman.

Dr. Melissa Gallagher is Naturopathic Physician and avid Youtuber based out of Atlanta, GA. You can check her out here!

Melissa says “The Healing Self by Deepak Chopra is a must-read! What better way to start the new year than tapping into the power of our minds to heal our bodies. Love this book.” (I feel like Melissa is talking to my soul! Buying it!)

Jessica Morse

Jessica started Bare Beauty Blog in 2013 as an advocate for clean beauty, wellness, clean eating and clean living for the whole family….without going crazy! She is also the founder of the water room, a clean nail salon in Charleston, SC.

Jess says there is only one book to read in 2019 and it’s Judgement Detox by Gabrielle Bernstein.

Amanda created A Beautiful Pursuit with the intention to support others as they move toward a healthier, less toxic, more sustainable lifestyle. Amanda says it’s not about perfection, it’s about purpose.

Amanda says two of her favorite reads are Ghosted by Rosie Walsh for an easy, thriller style book and There There by Tommy Orange.

Sarah James is a forty-something green beauty buff, an advocate for change and “the most animated introvert ever.” You can catch her over at Whoorl or chatting it up weekly on Selfie Podcast.

Sarah is also an avid reader and said Circe by Madeline Miller is awesome especially for those that love Greek mythology.

Also, The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer is my all-time favorite non-fiction. So much goodness around self-talk and being free of self-imposed limitations.

Steph is a stay at home mom who is well versed in food and environmental allergies, multiple anaphylaxis, chronic atopic eczema and multiple chemical sensitivities. You can follow along with Steph here and also you will find her every other month here on This Organic Girl.

Steph says my reading lately has been focused on allergies/health/mold or research around homeschooling. That being said, I love:

What is a must-read book you would recommend for 2019!?
