Boxwalla August 2018

Boxwalla Featuring African Botanics’ Fleur D’Afrique

Oh. My. Gosh. Guys. This face oil is $250!!! Boxwalla is delivering! The first thing that struck me when this product arrived is the packaging is BEAUTIFUL! It arrives in a big black box that opens to reveal this tinted glass bottle you can see above. Then I saw the price tag and I was like DANNNG! The highest priced face oil I’ve seen in green beauty is Vintner’s Daughter at $185 closely followed by May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon at $180. This is next level.

It just arrived today so I haven’t gotten to try it yet but I will keep you posted. But here is a little about African Botanics’ Fleur D’Afrique from Boxwalla:

African Botanics was founded by the husband & wife duo of Julia & Craig Noik in 2012. The creation of African Botanics was inspired by Julia & Craig’s experience with indigenous South African ingredients that have been used for centuries in South Africa, to protect the skin against harsh weather conditions. They choose extraordinarily high quality ingredients, sustainably sourced from places where they grow wild in unpolluted environments, untouched by any farming method or human interference. These wild harvested ingredients are then married to cutting edge technology to achieve a skincare experience that feels both luxuriously wholesome & truly cutting edge & revolutionary.

If you want THIS box, the last day to subscribe is August 1st or until they sell out.

This is a $250 value for $49.95 with no monthly commitment. Cancel anytime.

P.S. Some of you asked about the Retinol in this product. Retinol has so many skin benefits including the improvement of fine wrinkles, stimulation of collagen and it’s effective in the treatment of aging and photoaging. Also important to note that it can not be synthesized by the body – you have to intake it by eating specific animals and plants.

On the other hand, the EWG gives it a 9 out of 10 on the toxicity scale saying retinol is a potent form of synthetic vitamin A that may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions on sun-exposed skin. Upon further questioning EWG says, “We don’t have an issue with retinoids when they appear in cosmetics apart from SPF products”.

I chatted with Boxwalla about this and this is what I got back:

This is a super clean formula. This specific retinol is derived from a vegetable-base which doesn’t make it natural but it’s just like how vitamin C isn’t 100% natural, it’s been processed. In addition, most retinols are preserved with BHT but this one is not. This one is a liposomal retinol that is preserved with rosemary extract. And it’s used here in a very low percentage.

Here is more on retinol in the green beauty space if you are interested:

Will I be using it!? You bet your bottom dollar I will! I have 30+ years of sun damage on my face and I want to put this $250 vile to the test! I will probably stick to using it at night only. Using retinol can even skin tone and lighten hyperpigmentation but it also makes your skin more sensitive to the sun.

July's Detox Box
The Detox Box Featuring OSMIA – SOLD OUT IN ONE DAY!

The Detox Box is comin’ in HOT! This is the newest box to hit the green beauty scene but it’s earned it’s right as one of the big 4 – offering super clean and effective brands at a fraction of their retail prices month after month after month.

This month we are seeing OSMIA’s Nectar Vital Rose Drops ($98/1oz) and Purely Simple Face Cream ($60/1.5oz).

This is a $158 value for $49.95/mo. No commitment. Cancel anytime.

First of all, I am a HUGE fan of OSMIA. I especially love their Purely Simple Face Cream. It’s great for girls, guys, teens – anyone! It moisturizes, sits really light on the skin and has a really light, barely-there scent. I pretty much recommend this to anyone new to green beauty or anyone who just wants a face cream. And I reach for it myself too – sometimes you just want to use a cream and not an oil. Plus it’s super clean and densely packed with nourishing skin food. A real crowd pleaser.

And over the moon with the addition of their Nectar Vital Rose Drops. You can use this alone as a moisturizer, under your face cream as a serum OR add a few drops to your face cream for a boost. Made with just 8 ingredients designed to hydrate and soften. A fantastic addition to your skincare kit.

Hi Lisa, you are my go-to girl every month to see what’s coming up next in these beauty boxes. I cannot wait to see what’s in the detox box one. I cannot stand their reveal timeline (the 6th of each month). Looking back they actually had looser timelines ranging between the 3rd and the 6th. I’ll be looking for your IG story tomorrow morning to see the products. I cannot rely on the Detox Market 🙂
