Green Beauty New Releases_

Sharing is caring!

Hey girlfriends! Today I wanted to share with you a few new green beauty releases I am going bananas over. All three of these have fit into my routine like they’ve always been there – like a new friend you instantly connect with or a boyfriend cardigan that’s on repeat 7 days a week. Like, how the heck did I ever live with out these!? You know that feeling I’m talking about. So here they are, three new green beauty releases I’m totally digging.

True Botanicals Pre Cleanse Oil

True Botanicals Pre Cleanse Oil
True Botanicals Pre Cleanse Oil, $48

First up is True Botanicals’ newest release: their Pre Cleanse Oil. Okay if you read anything I write; saying I am a huge True Botanicals fan is a gross understatement. Love this entire line and if I never get to try another product line I could totally die happy. That being said, I use their Hydrating Cleanser daily but I tend to pre-cleanse with a balm or oil to take my makeup off first – then go in with their their gentle Hydrating Cleanser to finish the job leaving my skin glowing, clean and moisturized. It wasn’t until True Botanicals sent me their Pre Cleanse Oil that I actually heard angels sing. The Pre Cleanse Oil is to the  Hydrating Cleanser as Robin is to Batman, jelly to peanut butter and burns to Elvis. Like all of a sudden Adam has his Eve and all is happy in the Garden of my bathroom.

So, NOW, I go in with the Pre Cleanse Oil rubbing it into my entire face including eyes and neck and then going back over with a warm wet washcloth to remove oil and all the gunk that comes with it. THEN I am ready to go in with the Hydrating Cleanser to gently remove any lingering dirt or grime and just make my face feel fresh and clean.

The ingredients are crazy good too. Most oils will have a “throwaway carrier” oil – meaning an ingredient that doesn’t bring much to the table but fills out a formula and acts as a carrier for various ingredients including those that can’t be directly applied to the skin like several essential oils for example. One that comes to mind is grapeseed oil. Not bad in anyway – just not notorious for being active or nutrient dense.

The Pre Cleanse Oil however is just the opposite. Made with 100% organic and active oils. Even though this is meant to be applied and then removed, it is more active than several face oils out there. Here is the full ingredient list:

  • Organic jojoba seed oil: nutrient rich, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory + regulates skins oil production
  • Organic sesame seed oil: reduces flaking and soothe cracked skin + high in fatty acids that protect and help retain moinsture
  • Organic Apricot kernel oil: vitamin A, E + linoleic acids the hydrate and plump
  • Organic bergamot fruit oil: offers antibacterial and skin soothing benefits plus gives this formula a beautiful, bright, citrusy fragrance.

These two should be sold together because there is no one with out the other. For more on True Botanicals check out my CLEAR line review – the CLEAR line just out preformed Proactiv+ in a clinical trial and totally changed the landscape of my skin. It’s that good.

Hannes Dóttir Elixir of Minerals

Hannes Dottir Elixir of Minerals
Hannes Dottir elixir of minerals, $60

Holy mother of pearl. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind face oil/miracle-working skin prep – look no further than Hannes Dottir’s Elixir of Minerals. Apply before makeup or use as a moisturizer, this miracle in a jar will fill in all of your micro lines and leave your skin looking dewy and GLOWING. Hannes Dóttir is a natural skincare line made with minerals, crystals and sea kelp from the fjords of Iceland. They currently have 5 products for sale. And oh my gosh, this packaging!? Straight up bougie.

I picked this up during my most recent visit to Boston – naturally I forgot to pack a few essentials like face wash and foundation (but don’t worry, I had two shades of blush and 3 mascaras – who does that!?) So I hit up Follain’s South End shop and Isabel was working (she knows everything about everything in Follain and I could talk to her all day). Anyways, she totally sold me on the Hannes Dóttir Elixir of Minerals. After listening to Isabel chat it up, I just had to buy.

The star ingredient of this elixir is Icelandic Sea Kelp which is hand harvested via row boat as to not disturb the delicate ecosystem. I mean I could go on but I’ll pause here so you can pick your chin up off the floor. It’s different than other kelp because its dried with geothermal heat which maintains the bright green color and purity of ingredients.

And this elixir has a super high mineral content which makes it extremely calming to rosacea and even cystic acne. Zinc in particular is ultra anti inflammatory making this a great treatment for those with blemish prone skin.

It’s like nothing else I’ve tried before. It’s sold as a face moisturizer but I’ve been using it over my oils and before foundation for a little extra oomph and some skin prep. It’s also great as a straight moisturizer too. It’s a clear, viscous elixir that goes on like silk and evens out the skin’s canvas. Skin is silky and plumped out so makeup just glides on and STAYS; crease free. Performance overload here friends.

Check out what’s in it:

  • Vegtable Glycerin – hydrates and draws moisture into skin
  • Alum Crystal – firms and tightens skin for lift
  • Liquid Sea Kelp – nourishes skin with minerals
  • Zinc Sulfate – an anti inflammatory to reduce puffiness
  • Distilled Water
  • NaPCA – hydrates and draws moisture into skin
  • Eucalyptus
  • Monolaurin – from coconut and is antibacterial
  • Oil of Spearmint

The company didn’t respond to me yet about my ingredient questions but Follain came through with some serious intel. The NaPCA is an amino acid (derived from plants) that we naturally have in our bodies but our reserves deplete as we age. Along with glycerin, the NaPCA helps to draw moisture out of the air continually throughout the day so that skin will always feel hydrated. And guys, IT REALLY DOES! If you want that glossy, dewey, healthy looking skin – THIS IS IT!

Also, if you’ve tried this and your skin feels sticky or tacky, you are using too much – try using a little less. One pump should cover your whole face! This formula is also vegan, cruelty free and preservative free.

Over and Out

Try any of these and you will be so happy you did!
