What does Jason use? I get this question A LOT! And I totally get it because it’s often still a question in my home too. I’m always like babe, Does this work? Did you like that? Would you buy this again? And just to set the stage, my husband is not like, into skincare and stuff – he just wants something that will do its job so he can move on with his day. He wants a deodorant that stops the stink, a mouthwash that actually freshens his breath and a gel that will give him some style. So this morning I snapped an un-staged photo of his side of the sink. This is really his sink, this is really what he is using and yes, this is really his pink toothbrush.
No fancy toners, cleansers, masks or oils – he’s really a nothing but the essentials type of guy. But I’m happy to share these essentials that have turned into his go-tos. So let’s break it down.
Clean men’s essentials
Oral Essentials Mouthwash – Recently rebranded to Lumineux Oral Essentials so you will see a different label than what you see in the above photo. This mouthwash is truly a standout. It’s the only one I’ve found that really works to freshen breath and clearly my hubs agrees. Made with naturals like essential oils, 21 potent sea minerals, aloe vera juice, Dead Sea Salt, non-GMO Xylitol…Instead of alcohol and preservatives, it’s double pasteurized (the only one that is) to maintain freshness. I can’t stand not having fresh breath – Lumineux does the trick!
Toothpaste – What you see in the pic above is Lumineux Oral Perfection which came as a freebie with the mouthwash the last time I ordered it. It’s decent. Nothing notable. Both of our faves by far is Uncle Harry’s Toothpaste in peppermint. If you want fiery fresh breath, it’s Uncle Harry’s ALL THE WAY. Comes in a glass jar and made with bentonite clay, calcium carbonate, colloidal silver water, sea salt, ionic minerals, mustard seed, essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus, clove, wintergreen, and oregano. You can say goodbye to indecisive breath with Uncle Harry’s – it’s not for the faint of heart!
Innersense I Create Hold Gel – This is a light-hold gel that he uses as a daily styler. I want to emphasize light hold because it’s not going to make your hair turn crunchy, it just adds a little texture and a slight hold. I use this on my boys in the morning before school and they look fab – then by the time they come home the hold has fallen out. But they are 5 and 6 and God only knows they are probably rubbing their heads on the ground during recess so it’s not really the fairest of measurements. Best applied to dry hair if it’s short. You also see Innersense’s I Create Lift here too which he doesn’t use but I use it sometimes on the boys. It’s like a clean mouse with a light hold.
Type A Deodorant – This deodorant is one of a kind. It’s a light, creamy consistency and comes in a squeeze tube. This is great because there is no rubbing or irritation upon application which poses a problem with some of the solid sticks. It’s also really mildly scented (The Visionary) or there is an unscented version (The Minimalist) – great for those with sensitivities or guys who just don’t want to smell like Jasmine Cardamom. My husband and I are both trying this brand currently and it’s really holding up. Workouts, the daily grind, weekend jaunts…And let me just say this, my hubs does NOT mess around with deodorants. He would rather go back to using toxic than bringing B.O. into a business meeting. It is what it is. The scented version rates a 3 on EWG (the unscented rates less) and uses a mix of naturals and synthetics.
MV Skincare Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturizer – My hubs doesn’t use moisturizer everyday but there are a few days here and there (more so in the winter) where he likes to use a face lotion. I haven’t turned him on to oils yet – that’s like, way too radical. I got this moisturizer in a box from The Detox Market this past year and it’s found a home here on his side of the sink!
And yes, my husband uses a pink toothbrush and yes I have toothbrush envy! This one is by Sonicare which I swear helps to whiten teeth. I only use my Sonicare and the above toothpaste/mouthwash and it keeps my teeth pretty white. I also drink coffee and wine so I mean that’s saying a lot! I’ve used other toothbrushes like the biodegradable wooden ones which I totally stand behind but nothing gets my teeth cleaner than this tool.
Dr. Bronners Hand Soap – These are so good to keep by the kitchen sinks and bathrooms – no parabens, fragrance or nasties. Just clean ingredients that clean hands. The Dr. Bronner Organic Sugar Soaps don’t foam but if you are looking for a foaming hand soap, we also love Kosmatology.
A few other things that are not pictured:
True Botanicals Shampoo and Conditioner – Okay full disclosure he will use whatever I have stocked in the shower. True Botanicals Shampoo + Conditioner is always on rotation because it’s THE BEST and truly cleans my hair. LISATRUE20 will save first timers on $40+.
OSMIA bar soaps – Again, Jason will use whatever I have lined up in the shower and these beautiful handmade artisan bar soaps are always on display. Beautifully made, clean ingredients and they smell and look amazing! Coffee Mint, Chamomile Sun, Citrus Pearl…yaaaaassssss.
Safety razor – Well, it was only a matter of time before he found my OUI rose gold safety razor. Great for sensitive skin, it gives you a close shave without any of the irritation that comes along with it. I also love that replacement blades are super cheap, like pennies each so there is so LITTLE WASTE here. Not to mention it’s just gorgeous to look at. I mean my husband likes pink (obviously – haha!) but if your’s isn’t into it, they have standard safety razors on Amazon too. More here on my OUI razor. THISORGANICGIRL will save you 10% which brings it down to under $70.
