October Organic Beauty Subscription Roundup

October 1, 2018

the detox market october

Every month I do a roundup of what I like to call the big four in organic beauty subscriptions. By the end of this week you will be able to shop and compare what Beauty Heroes, Boxwalla, Art of Organics and The Detox Box is offering for the month of October. If you want to know more about each of these subscriptions, check out my buying guide which details the pros and cons.

If I had to pick one box to go with this month I would say it’s a toss up between Beauty Heroes featuring LILFOX and Boxwalla featuring African Botanics – both of these have blown me away in performance, formulation, efficacy, innovation, packaging and more! So it would depend if you are in the market for a new face moisturizer I would say definitely go with Beauty Heroes and if you have a routine set but you are looking to up your game with a product that will brighten, even skin tone, hydrate AND exfoliate (YES IT DOES ALL THOSE THINGS!) then Boxwalla it is!

The Detox Box featuring Innersense Organic

This month we are seeing a generous haircare collection from Innersense Organic Beauty! If you haven’t discovered this brand yet, I wrote all about them and my faves here which includes an interview with the founders, pics and more. I honestly could not live with out their Quiet Curl Cream or their Inner Peace Whipped Cream Texturizer. This box is a great way to try these green haircare pioneers.

Art of Organics Featuring Honua and LIVE Botanical

Art of Organics is showing up with RESET for October. This month delivers a $98 value for $41.95/month with a two month minimum. I absolutely love the LIVE Botanical line so I was really excited to see them featured here again for the second time in 2018! This is my first time trying their Luna Renewing Concentrate and I have to say it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s designed to nourish and moisturize and I love it as an overnight treatment – my skin feels so soft in the morning!

Beauty Heroes features Lilfox

Beauty Heroes featuring LILFOX

This month Beauty Heroes is delivering LILFOX! We are seeing their Prickly Pear Illuminating Beauty Nectar ($110) and Kalahari Brightening Eye Serum ($34) – a $144 value for $42.95 with a three month commitment. Get it here!

LILFOX sources ingredients primarily from organic and wildcrafted oils, butters, rare earth clays and hi-vibrational hydrosols. They hand blend in micro-batches and infuse formulas with crystals and vibrant plant energies.

You guys know how much I love prickly pear so I was really excited to try both of these! Well it’s been two weeks and I’m loving this face oil both day and night. It goes on smooth, soaks in and leaves my skin super moisturized. And the eye serum has been a fantastic addition to my evening routine. It took me by surprise because it soaks in faster than most eye oils. Here is a little more about each of these from LILFOX founder Alexis Rose:

We source our prickly pear seed oil from an eco-cert organic farm in Morocco. The best prickly pear oil is sourced out of Morocco. The prickly pear seeds are very small and contain only about 5% oil. It takes a massive 8 tons of prickly pear fruits to produce just 1 liter of oil. Although prickly pear oil is the most expensive fatty oil in the world, the prickly pear cactus is actually a incredibly sustainable crop.

The prickly pear seed oil was pressed fresh in July just for this LILFOX x Beauty Heroes Discovery and smells of ripe fruit with layers of earthy green cactus.  Of all the different beauty oils available, prickly pear contains the highest percentage of unsaturated fatty acids, an amazing 88% which are imperative to stimulating healthy cell metabolism. It also contains the highest level of natural tocopherols to protect and moisturize skin. With rich amounts of anti-inflammatory linoleic acid to balance oil production and discourage blemishes.

No wonder my skin feels so moisturized!!! Try LILFOX here!

boxwalla featuring african botanics

Boxwalla featuring African Botanics (again!!!)

You guys know I went berserk in August when Boxwalla introduced the world to African Botanics Fleurs d’Afrique – which by the way is still continuing to even and brighten my skin tone – I can’t keep my hands off of it!

Well Boxwalla has outdone themselves again with October’s selection. Say hello to African Botanics’ Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum.

This is a gel serum with a plant-based retinol that pairs beautifully with Fleurs or under your own moisturizer. It’s designed to hydrate, boost collagen, deliver antioxidants and reduce fine lines. It also works as an exfoliator too! A $160 value available through 10/10 for $49.95. I am like, loving this serum!

I specifically love that this is a gel serum because it truly hydrates and moisturizes my skin. Like my skin just feels so plump and tacky like it’s full of moisture after using it. SO GOOD.

Get it here!

PS – Boxwalla is technically a subscription but there is no commitment so you can order this box and then cancel after you get it to avoid reoccurring charges.

Hello, I am loving the Prickly Pear Nectar too! My oily face usually looks shiny with any face oils and serums that promises a glow. For me, it’s not a glow, it’s shine that I don’t want! During the few years I’ve been using facial oils/serums, this is one that stands out as far as not making me look so oily. This is my second day using it. I hope it will continue to perform this way and maybe I will see the illuminating factor over time.

Hi Kitty! Isn’t it amazing!? I love this feedback from you! I don’t have oily skin to this is a great testimony. Hope others see it and it helps them too. And yes, any illumination takes time for sure. Thanks so much for the comment!

I love your reviews – I come here first before I even go to The Detox Market box posting.
It does say that the Detox Box for October is a $132 value, not a $159 value, on their website.

The African Organics Serum is the same from August, right? So you use this under your morning moisturizer? Or evening? I actually bought it and was so excited but haven’t used it! I also was wondering if it would be good for my 18year old son’s acne scars.

Hi Gina! So Boxwalla is featuring the same company; African Botanics but a different product. In August we saw an oil serum and in October we are seeing a gel serum. I actually find this gel serum to be a little bit more aggressive. So to answer your questions. Yes, you can totally have your son use it to help fade his scares. Just keep an eye on it because it may be too strong to use every night. So I would start with a couple times a week and check in with him to see if his skin feels okay or if it’s hot or tingling or itchy and if it is then go down to 1-2x a week.

I would recommend these at night only and wash them off in the morning. So after he washes his face he can use the oil serum and then a moisturizer or just the oil serum if he doesn’t need more. Then a few nights a week have him add the gel serum in so: wash, gel serum, oil serum then moisturizer.

The gel serum will brighten, exfoliate, boost collagen and help even skin tone. I can only use it 1-2x a week because I can feel it on my skin and over use can cause irritation so play with it to see what works best for him.

I would say start with gel serum 2x a week and oil serum 4x a week and adjust from there. Let us know!
