When OSEA reached out and asked if I was interested in trying their line my heart skipped a beat – high quality, ecologically-responsible natural skincare for ingredient conscious consumers – um, yeah, I think I’m in.
OSEA stands for Ocean, Sun, Earth and Atmosphere. Their line is entirely vegan, gluten-free and biodegradable. “We respect the four elements of our planet and work with nature to heal the human body. We don’t do anything that pollutes or harms our planet because that is where we find our most effective ingredients.”
Love it. Of course you know me, it doesn’t matter what a website says – always check out the ingredients for yourself – that’s where the truth is! So I started digging and their ingredients do look fantastic. I did have an issue with the preservative OSEA chose for their Red Algae Mask so I asked them about it and their response was so great I wanted to share it with you – because I know you will be thinking the same thing as me when you read their labels!
[Phenoxyethanol] is commonly used in toiletries and wipes – even in some products that claim to be natural. Some companies “creatively” list this ingredient as Rose Ether to give their product a “better label read”. It’s one of the best gram-negative preservatives and we are using it at under 1%. We are currently testing a new preservative system for the Red Algae Mask and hope to phase out the phenoxyethanol in the near future.
I am impressed with their commitment and transparency and looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Okay now on to the products.
My skin is pretty clear most days but I do get hormonal breakouts and sometimes non-hormonal breakouts along my jawline. I have normal to combo skin and I tend to get some congestion in the usual problem areas; around the nostrils, in between my eye brows, and along some scar lines I have on my chin. After consulting with OSEA, they sent me their Acne Relief Essentials.
From right to left is shown: Ocean Cleansing Mudd, Red Algae Mask, Blemish Balm and Essential Corrective Complex.
Most of the time washing my face is a routine and sometimes feels like a chore. We’ve all been there. The first time I used this system I was gifted an experience. The whole process of treating your skin is elevated with OSEA. Routine becomes experience and it is truly sensational. It’s like upgrading from riding a traveling carney Round-Up to riding the Bush Gardens’ Sheikra. I have a ton of products in my bathroom to choose from and yet I find myself continuing to reach for this quartet – so good!
Ocean Cleaning Mudd
The Ocean Cleaning Mudd is packaged in glass and dispensed by a pump – the color of the of the product is what you see here. When applied it turns into a light milky white color – it goes on smooth, rinses off with ease and is non-drying. The base of this non-foaming treatment is a blend of seaweeds that remove dead skin cells and clarify clogged pores. It has Tea Tree and Peppermint Oil which promote a healthy pH and prevent blemishes. These oils make this treatment super sensational and they leave skin feeling minty, cool and clean. I love using this cleanser.
Red Alge Mask
The Red Algae Mask was one of my faves by far. I swear I took it off and my skin was 3 shades brighter. Sadly it went quick, I probably got about 6 masks out of it and I used them all within the first two weeks of owning this little gem. This mask goes on a light milky pink color and dries clear. It’s packaged in plastic with a pump applicator. After applied, it’s active for about the first 8-10 minutes, you can really feel the mask working – it has a super cooling sensation as it dries. This mask employs French Red Clay and French Pink Clay but unlike a traditional clay mask it is not drying at all. In combination with Red Algae, Red Wine polyphenols, herbal extracts and vitamins E and C it hydrates, nourishes and conditions skin while targeting blemishes. Also great as a spot treatment. I need an unending supply of this one!
Blemish Balm
The Blemish Balm is a light, non-greasy moisturizer that assimilates right into the skin – no greasiness or heaviness. A perfect layer before applying makeup – no required waiting time before application. This product also smells minty and calls on organic seaweeds and a blend of organic Cypress, Juniper, Rosemary and Tea Tree essential oils to detoxify and reduce inflammation. I tend to use face oils to moisturize but this was a nice change and my skin felt super fresh after applied.
Essential Corrective Complex
This was also another fave. The Essential Corrective Complex is a blend of botanical and essential oils. It is 100% naturally derived and mostly organic – it is an oil treatment with a rollerball applicator. Love that this is an oil as opposed to most spot treatments which are clay based and drying in nature. I have been using this on my jaw line and it has really helped clear up some congestion there. No lie: (and trust me, I would’t lie about something this serious) I saw results OVERNIGHT. Even though I am “done testing” this product, I still reach for it most nights to top off my nighttime skincare routine. Love having this in my beauty kit.
After this skincare quartet my skin felt tighter, cleaner, moisturized and minty fresh. It actually felt cool and warm at the same time like it was working to turnover and regenerate. I don’t know what was going on exactly but what I can tell you is I love how my skin feels after using these products and I will definitely cry when they are gone!
