2020 was *quite* a whirlwind. It changed a lot of our routines, including how we take care of ourselves—which totally impacts my go-to products from this past year. Maybe you feel the same?

Muki 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser | $66
Kinda obsessed is an understatement when it comes to Mukti’s 2-in-1 Resurfacing Exfoliant. I use this as needed: sometimes once a week, sometimes 5 days a week. On a day that I want to exfoliate, I will remove my makeup with an oil and then go in for my second cleanse with this.
This is actually an acid + manual exfoliator (my favorite kind) meaning it exfoliates in two ways: fruit acids dissolve intercellular bonds while particles gently eliminate dead cells. This exfoliating combo leaves skin ultra smooth and fresh and wait until you see what it does for your foundation. All of this and I haven’t even talked about the color, the scent, the size, the price….I mean every expectation is exceeded here.
If you are still looking for a killer exfoliator or just wanting to try something new…make it this, a top beauty product of mine this year! (It’s even available in a 1/2 size at 1/2 the price.)
I originally discovered this line thanks to Beauty Heroes, the killer better beauty subscription box that provides FULL-SIZED products each month. They’re on the cutting edge of healthy beauty and actively work as contributors to the movement by continuing to raise the bar and challenge expectations.
Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil | $72
What? You said you want a face oil that’s moisturizing, uber sustainable, reparative, balancing, effective, affordable, certified organic twice over and smells amazing?! Well girl, let me introduce you to Le Prunier’s Plum Beauty Oil.
This oil BLEW UP (and sold out worldwide) in late 2020 because Chrissy Teigan named it one of her faves, but I actually got to talk to the brand’s founders, and I’ve fallen deeper in love with the oil as time goes on.
Don’t forget, you heard it here first! LOL. Definitely a top beauty product pick in all ways: efficacy, user experience, sustainability, ingredients, packaging, price…ALL OF IT!
This is currently OOS but our winner will be the first to receive a full-size bottle when it’s available again!
Maya Chia The Straight A | $125
The Straight A is my #1 product pick of 2020. There is so much to say about this formula but let me just say this: if you want a brighter complexion, more even skin tone, are looking to fade hyperpigmentation and reduce fine lines…girl, this is it. THIS IS IT. I saw results in just days! DAYS! Read more about my experience with The Straight A plus things to consider when buying retinol in general here!

ILIA Beauty Limitless Mascara | $28
I tried ILIA’s Limitless Lash Mascara for the first time in 2020 and it’s goooood. What stands out to me here is two things. First, this formula is uber buildable. One coat, two coats, three coats…I mean, you can just keep going and going!
Second, I LOVE their patented dual-sided brush. It’s the best I’ve ever tried. Use the shorter side to curl and create volume, then the longer bristles to lift, lengthen and separate. Lashes feel light and flexible and separation is ON POINT. Here is my full review of ILIA’s mascara and top products from the brand.
Honua MALU SPF 30 | $42
MALU is a face SPF dream come true. It pumps out white and rubs into clear leaving a dewy, plump, radiant finish.
You can check out how it applies + stacks up to the rest in this post but I can tell you right now it’s top 2.
I love that this formula is truly a moisturizer and SPF all in one. It smells suggestively tropical with hints of jasmine and it’s easy to layer into your makeup and skincare routine.
If you’ve tried MALU in the past, it was just reformulated in 2020 and is well worth a revisit. MALU is now:
- free flowing and does not get stuck in the pump anymore
- available in two sizes (1 oz and 2 oz)
MALU is an all around gorgeous experience (hence why it’s one of my top beauty product picks) and I’m not the only one who thinks so. It’s back and available after several SELL OUTS in 2020. If you are looking for a face SPF to use this winter, MALU is where it’s at.
EVOLVh SuperFinish Polishing Balm | $32
This defrizzes, adds moisture, softness, shine, strength, prevents breakage, splitting AND provides UV and heat protection. I know. I KNOW!
But the best part, and why I love this formula so much, is it does all of this without adding weight or texture to my hair. This is a water-based formula that you layer in before blowdrying that just disappears into my strands. In some ways it’s like adding everything and in other ways it’s like adding nothing.
This is a gray hair MUST but really anyone can benefit. More on why I love it here.
Ayuna Terra Bella | $455
Another Beauty Heroes Discovery! Beauty Heroes promises a $100+ value each month with their subscription box, but with this December Discovery, they KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK with Ayuna’s Limited Edition Terra Bella.
Beauty Heroes often launches new releases before anyone else which means Beauty Heroes subscribers are often first to try the new new, and this was no exception.
According to the brand, applying this cream moisturizer can help replicate feel-good vibes from the inside out, thanks to the first-ever topical application of cannabis sativa cell cultures. They say these cells “unlock [y]our skin’s endocannabinoid receptors to stimulate the epidermal neuroendocrine cascade, increasing oxytocin in the skin.” I love the creamy texture, light scent and uber-hydration it provides.
It’s an indulgent experience in a keepsake clay jar, and if you’re interested in a very special splurge, I recommend giving it a go. I gave one to my mom and after one use she was hooked. Even my dad was like, “What’s that now?” LOL.
KURE BAZAAR Nail Polish Remover | $38
KURE BAZAAR’s Nail Polish Remover is INSANE. I never thought I would be in love with a nail polish remover but this. THIS whole experience has got me wrapped around its little finger. First of all, it’s packaged in glass (SOLD). The bottle is LARGE and beautiful and sits heavy in your hand. The branding bold, edgy, and TDF. And it doesn’t smell bad or turn your fingers into raisins.
But most importantly the ingredients are LEGIT off the chain. It basically removes polish clean off with dimethyl succinate and rose damascena flower water and I’m over here like 😲😳🤔😎😍. I go more in-depth here about the best nontoxic nail polish and nail care brands.

Free + True Bright Side | $72
One thing that I want from my serums across the board is hydration. I also want it to do what it’s charged to, but I want that added hydration for sure before locking it all in with a waterless face oil.
One of our FAQs here at TOG is: What vitamin C serum do we like best?
I’ve tried several and I truly like so many of them, but a couple stand out above the rest because they bring on the vitamin C, but also hydrate as well. Bright Side is one of them!
Bright Side also stands out delivering not one but two clinically proven powerhouse forms of stable, non-irritating vitamin C: tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (at a whopping 10%) and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (3%).
If you are looking for a serum to treat uneven skin tone, sunspots, acne scars or discoloration, vitamin C is where it’s at. (I personally love using a vitamin C serum during the day and a retinol serum at night.)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Vitamin C is the one thing everyone needs in their skincare routine! If you are looking to incorporate a vitamin C into yours – make it this one, one of my top beauty products of 2020!
LILFOX Chill Wands | $110
These facial tools have quickly become another favorite of 2020. The aesthetician-grade set can be frozen or chilled to create a spa-like at-home experience. The extremely cold temperature dramatically reduces inflammation, removes puffiness, firms, and tightens skin’s appearance while stimulating cellular turnover and lymphatic function. They’re a part of my current skincare routine!

Province Apothecary Facial Cups | $29
I’m a convert, ever since I tried this facial cupping set from Province Apothecary. IT’S SO EASY AND SO AMAZING FOR FACIAL TENSION. Here’s how I use it, but I’m a long way from being an expert. I don’t know where I’ve been because cupping has been used as a healing modality for thousands of years—turns out, people are on to something 😂.
This practice gently pulls the skin away from deeper layers of fascia, and actually gives INSTANT results, making it another of my top beauty products of 2020. I’m talking plumping, fine line reduction, increases circulation, delivers a glow, reduces puffiness and more. Take a look here.
Rubis Tweezers | $36
I asked and y’all answered! After polling for “best tweezers” on IG stories, the Rubis tweezers from Switzerland came back on top. So I tried them and daaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnggggggggg. Precision is the name of the game here. It’s so good it’s like the hairs voluntarily jumped out of their roots when they saw this tool coming, lol.
One suggestion: Don’t put this purchase on a shared credit card unless you want to get asked why you spent $36 on a pair of tweezers. 😂
