True Botanicals Booster and Serum

Okay so it’s no secret I love me some True Botanicals. Their CLEAR line transformed the landscape of my skin. Their Hydrating Shampoo saved my life. And their Resurfacing Mask rocks my world. But it doesn’t stop there. This MADE SAFE luxe line selects bio-active ingredients that actually work. The latest? Whole organic apple peel. Friends, say hello to the latest member of the True Botanicals family: Antioxidant Booster.

The Antioxidant Booster comes in powder form and you add it to your face serum, or face oil, or water and then apply to your skin at night before you go to bed. Overnight this formula works to smooth wrinkles, firm skin, even skin tone, brighten hyperpigmentation, lighten scarring, clear acne, calm inflammation reduce redness and protect agains UV damage. HOW!?

Whole apple peel peeps. The Antioxidant Booster is made with the same antioxidants that help preserve the longest-lasting fruits and veggies and it works to repair everyday skin damage. Apple peel is packed full of polyphenols, rutin, quercetin and ursolic acid – all active ingredients that have traditionally been extracted and used as isolated ingredients in beauty formulas but this is the first time we are seeing them all together as a whole, in one formula.

Ingredient breakdown

First impressions, I love the simplicity of this ingredient list. I talked to True Botanicals for a deeper look into what each of these ingredients bring to the table:

Organic malus domestica (apple peel) fruit extract: Although we see the word extract here, this is not a traditional “extract” in the sense that an extraction method (like solvents, CO2, distillation) is being used to extract ingredients. This is actually whole apple peel powder. Using whole apple peel is brand new to the beauty industry and True Botanicals is the first to pioneer this ingredient.

Organic tapioca starch: This is a essentially a buffer to ensure the perfect delivery of the booster’s active ingredients.

Resveratrol – An antioxidant with anti-aging properties, preserves skin’s youthfulness and reduces signs of aging. This ingredient is a plant based, and sourced sustainably.

Quercetin – A component of apple and onion skin and one of the reasons onions + apples keep so long. Also has shown to extend the life of human cells. This is also plant based and sourced sustainably.

The Antioxidant Booster is also certified MADE SAFE and True Botanicals tells me its good enough to eat!

My experience

True Botanicals Boosters

The Antioxidant Booster arrived in the mail two weeks ago and I’ve been alternating between this and The Vitamin C Booster every other night. It’s recommended to add each of these boosters to the Cellular Repair Serum, a serum of your choice or to mix it with water. I played around with it a few different ways. It definitely acts as a thickener so I found when I added it to my serums, product would stick to my hand and I wasn’t able to use it all (and I hate wasting even a smidge of it). So what’s worked for me was after I wash my face, I apply my serum solo. Then I mix the Booster with my face oil – which gave it a super smooth consistency – and then apply that over the serum.

The formula itself is purple in color and has a sweet smell. When you apply it, it feels a little bit gritty micro textured. So I found applying it as my last step (mixed with my face oil) help the Antioxidant Booster go on smooth and keep it in place.

My skin is definitely showing signs of sun aftermath after all the summer riff raff so I am excited to see how this works for me. I have a bunch of hyperpigmentation and fine lines that have developed over the years too so I am really hoping this treatment will help even out my skin tone. I will keep you posted!

The deets

The Antioxidant Booster

Love that it comes packaged in dark glass so there are no plastics bleeding into the formula or light to compromise effectiveness. It’s .35 oz (10 grams) and sells for $90. Oh and if you sign up for the True Botanical’s subscription service you can choose when your product gets delivered (ie: every two, three, four…12 weeks) and you save 10%! That applies to any of their products – I mean the shampoo/conditioner is a subscription must!

Also if you are a first timer, code TOG10 will save you 10% off your order.

Time will tell! Yes! So I talked with True Botanicals about layering it differently like this and they said it is totally fine and it won’t impact effectiveness. xo!

If you had to pick one, the antioxidant or the vitamin c serum, which would you choose?

Hi Lindsey! Actually, for Vitamin C, I would recommend the new Maya Chia, The Super Lift and for an antioxidant treatment I would recommend this which has tested OFF THE CHARTS for antioxidants. Honestly, both of the TB boosters are a little gritty which I don’t personally love. Hope this helps! xo, Lisa
