UMA Deeply Clarifying Face Oil Product Review + Giveaway!

June 13, 2016

Sharing is caring!

I am a sucker for face oils and the Deeply Clarifying Face Oil by UMA was love at first application. There are so many great things about UMA. The ingredients, the weight, the performance, the packaging, the mission…but what will steal your heart is its beautiful scent. UMA is an essential oils based face oil that not only performs but packs some serious aromatherapy ya’ll.  And when I say serious I mean you will take 5-8 drops in your hands, rub them together, smell and just keep on smelling….it’s that good – you just can’t stop.

Even though I loved this oil from day one, the beauty of a face oil is revealed through longterm use. If you haven’t tried face oils in lieu of cream moisturizer – get on it girl, you are missing out! Face oils take sebaceous glands out of overdrive and puts them back into neutral.  If you have crazy combo skin or just regular old combo skin, give this face oil two weeks and your skin will be less oily and way more balanced – you will be like, why the heck did I wait so long to make the switch!?

All Face Oils Are Not Created Equal

Now not all face oils are created equal. Even some organic oils like argon oil for example can be sourced from many different procurers, mixed and stored together at a distributor and then sold to skin care formulators.  The problem with this is we don’t know how, where or when the oil is being harvested at these different sites and there are too many variables to control in this equation. Contamination, expiration, refined, unrefined, cold-pressed, expeller pressed, shipped in plastic, stored in light…it is impossible to classify a mixed source product. For example, Argan oil can be harvested from seeds that goats poop out after eating Argan fruit. Goat poop has literally been detected in some Argan oils final product. Batches of product has been dumped because of one point of contamination. Just an example to illustrate that single source oils are by far in higher demand and are higher in quality than mixed sourced oils.

UMA Deeply Clarifying Face Oil

I was lucky enough to have UMA send me their Deeply Clarifying Face Oil to try. A beautiful oil that I really enjoyed using both day and night. It has a medium weight with no greasy finish. My skin remained moisturized and balanced all day. No feelings of dryness crept in and likewise no oily patches ensued. And the smell is mesmerizing. This oil was a pleasure to use.

Deeply Clarifying Face Oil – 125.00/1oz

Mesmerizing because UMA uses an essential oil (EO) concentration 10-15 times higher than business standard. This is what makes their fragrance so intense, complex and captivating. The Balancing Face Oil ingredients are:

  • Clove EO
  • Tea Tree EO
  • Juniper Berry EO
  • Orange EO
  • Lavender EO
  • Geranium EO and Clary Sage EO
  • Grapeseed Oil as the base or carrier oil

No nasties, no preservatives, toxins, additives or junk. Just the way I like it.

Here are some things I consider when recommending a face oil is:

  1. Is it nontoxic and preferably organic?
  2. Sourcing and processing methods.
  3. Does it perform?
  4. Is it a pleasure to use?
  5. Packaging and impact on environment.

UMA uses single sourced, organic oils, it performs and it a pleasure to use. It is also packaged in glass with a glass eyedropper dispenser. I did want to make a footnote here. Although I really enjoyed using this oil – it is essential oils based and I would not recommend it for people with sensitive skin or EO sensitivities.  I would also not recommend it after a pore opening treatment like a steam or a mask.  I found the Deeply Clarifying Face Oil too intense for these exceptions.

UMA is also rolling out a hair oil and a body oil this year too – I got a sample of their Intensely Nourishing Hair Oil and WOW – need it! Smells amazing – What can I say, I’m a sucker for hair that smells good.  So looking forward to these!
