So treat yourself with this clean Valentine’d Day trio – or just enter my giveaway and treat yo-self for free! I am so excited to share some of my most favorite products!

True Moringa is a Boston based company that makes an amazing all purpose body oil. It is anti-aging, moisturizing and restores essential fatty acids and antioxidants. Have you used a body oil before? What I love is that the unscented oil has ONE ingredient, as opposed to lotions which have several ingredients including preservatives. Simpler is betting in my book. This oil is so nourishing, you can use it on your hair, nails, skin and face and it leaves NO greasy residue. None, it’s like magic, you won’t believe it. Even more impressive is this woman owned, small business supports local farmers in Ghana. The seeds are grown from trees without the use of pesticides, purchased fair trade, and the oil is cold pressed to retain all of its goodness. I love it.

Speaking of love, Meow Meow Tweet’s moisturizing soap is amazing. I had the pleasure of meeting and watching Tara, the owner, make this beautifully crafted soap with the best organic, unrefined plant oils and butters, steam-distilled and cold-pressed essential oils and organic and wild-crafted botanicals. Watching her work was a true treat but using her soap was even better! One of my favorite things about Tara’s soaps is that she uses a process called superfatting. Soap making is a science and it is all about perfect ingredient ratios. Tara pushes this ratio by adding extra oils to the mix. This is the secret to a moisturizing bar of soap because these extra oils are left behind on your skin after soaping up and rinsing off.  It’s pretty much the definition of ultimate self-care. If you haven’t tried her soaps, you are missing out!

And D.I.D. 5-free nail paint is in the house!  D.I.D offers a host of highly pigmented, eco-friendly nail colors. How IN is this nail color Prosecco? The perfect amount of timeless and sass – I mean, but really, they had us at Prosecco!

This gift box is a real treat!

I can’t find the ingredients list on the D.I.D. nail paint website, which is concerning. Many of the 5-free, 7-free, and 10-free polishes that advertise as “non-toxic” still contain benzophenone 1, which is “persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic … linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, and organ system toxicity” according to Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. And then there’s this disturbing article:

Very frustrating. I’ve stopped painting my nails for now, which is easy enough to do in the winter. Summer, though, is another story …

      Hi Kerstin!
Thank you so much for your comment! This is the exact conversation we all need to be having and I am so excited to have readers who are bringing these questions to the table. I have emailed the company and am waiting for a comprehensive ingredient list which I will post here. In the meantime here is another bloggers take on Benzophenone-1 I agree with you and personally reserve nail painting for special occasions which happens to be once or twice a year. Thank you for adding to the conversation and I will follow-up!

      Hi Kerstin,

Here is the info I promised:

“D.I.D. Nail Paint is a highly pigmented, eco-friendly and cruelty-free nail color collection that gives full coverage in 1-2 coats.D.I.D. Nail Paint is vegan and cruelty-free, made in the USA from FDA-approved ingredients—it’s 5 Free meaning it doesn’t include dangerous, carcinogenic ingredients like formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde resin, and camphor without diminishing the staying power and quality of the nail paint.

With that said, D.I.D. Nail Paint is, well—paint. And there are some safe, yet inorganic ingredients and chemicals that help the lacquer adhere to the nail for a lasting manicure. Otherwise, the color would ‘slip’ off the nail. D.I.D. Nail Paint is committed to being a socially responsible brand from using a combination of recycled and/or biodegradable materials for packaging and shipping our products to promoting a healthy lifestyle and giving back to the community. And, as resources become more available, our formula and ingredients will continue to evolve in a responsible way.”
